Founded in 1891, Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, New York is the oldest incorporated golf club in the United States. Originally designed by Willie Davis and Willie Dunn, remodeled by C.B. Macdonald, and then replaced (except for three holes) by William Flynn in the early 1930s, Shinnecock is universally ranked as one of the greatest courses in the world. With its strong winds, sandy and rolling landscape, strategic bunkers and treacherous greens, Shinnecock is one of the most challenging tests for championship golf. And Shinneock’s majestic Stanford White clubhouse is the oldest golf clubhouse in the United States. Ben Hogan once wrote about Shinnecock: “Each hole is different and requires a great amount of skill to play properly…. All in all, I think it is one of the finest courses I have ever played.” One of the five founding member clubs of the USGA, Shinnecock is the only club to host USGA championships in three centuries. These include the second U.S. Open Championship and U.S. Amateur in 1896, the Women’s Amateur in 1900, and the Walker Cup in 1977. After 90 years, the U.S. Open was held at Shinnecock again in 1986, and then in 1995 for the 100th anniversary of the Open. The last two U.S. Opens were won in by Retief Goosen in 2004 and Brooks Koepka in 2018. The 2026 U.S. Open will be held at Shinnecock. In 2036, Shinnecock will host the U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open in back-to-back weeks. This item includes golf for three at Shinnecock with lunch, drinks and caddie fees included.
A note from American Junior Golf Association: The American Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf. We are raising money to support junior golfers who lack the financial resources to compete in national golf events. All funds raised from this auction will be used to provide scholarships allowing these juniors and their families to get reimbursed for travel related expenses, tournament fees, equipment, and other expenses related to being competitive.
The AJGA hosts 140 tournaments a year and college coaches, equipment suppliers, and sponsors are invited to each event giving these juniors a chance to display their skills and earn college scholarships.
Every dollar raised through this auction will go directly back to the juniors and our Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) Grant. Tax receipts will be sent to the winning bidder. Questions can be directed to the AJGA by emailing hwaits@ajga.org.
Item delivery: After you've paid for any auction items that you've won, the event organizer will contact you to coordinate delivery. Items won that include specific dates such as PGA TOUR tickets or AJGA tournament dates can not be changed or altered. Auctions won that include golf at private clubs will be coordinated through the AJGA in partnership with the private club and/or the hosting member. Winners of auction items should read carefully the terms and conditions included with the particular item you're bidding on and the winner and where included, guests, must comply with all T's & C's listed. This can include dress code, travel dates, and other similar guidelines.
